 Colic
-
Episodic crying and fussiness, usually worse at night - thought to
possibly be a withdrawal from being in the womb. Things you
can try to do to help often relate to things the baby might
"miss":
-
Being
in a warm secure place - can help by swaddling well in a blanket
like when the baby was in the nursery
-
Gentle
movement - can help with rhythmic movements such as rocking,
carrying around in a Snuggly, using a baby swing, driving around
in car seat, riding around in a stroller (DO NOT SHAKE YOUR
BABY)
-
White
noise of blood flowing past the baby's ear - can imitate with
static from a television or baby alarm, vacuum cleaner, saying
"shhhh" in the baby's ear
-
Mom needs frequent breaks.
-
It is NOT your fault. It's your baby's temperament.
-
Worst
around 6 weeks, it usually disappears by 3 months.
